The Politics and Diplomacy of the United Nation Systems is a compendium of original thoughts on how the United Kingdom as an International Organisation functions in reality.
The Book argues that United Nations System is characterized by high politics with power politics and diplomacy as the main instruments through which member-states and group interests are protected and projected
This position is supported by critically analyzing the process leading to the selection and appointment of the 9th Secretary-General of the United Nations.
This book reiterates the view that the UN Secretary Council and the use of veto remains at the core of any deep and meaningful reform of the UN System, and that the new nominations of reform from member states for the appointment of a new Secretary General will gradually, but inevitably lead to increased transparency and democratization of the body
It therefore, calls for more attention to be focused on the Security Council and the synchronization of its activities with contemporary global demands and expectations in equitable manner . Going forward ,it seeks an enhanced role for the General Assembly in the selection process. This is to ensure more inclusivity and participation in decision making, equity and a more legitimate and surer future for the United Nations
