Citizen Diplomacy

Citizen Diplomacy, in consonance with the constitutional principles and directives, places priority on the protection of the interest of the Nigerian citizen, both at home and abroad. This means the protection of the rights, dignity and privileges of Nigerian citizens wherever they may be.

This is to remain the primary responsibility of Nigeria’s diplomacy. And this emergent approach to the country’s diplomacy is to be true for Nigerians at home as for those in Diaspora. The apparent or perceived ‘criminalization’ of our compatriots abroad has assumed a worrisome dimension. It has become unacceptable. This is why Nigeria’s diplomacy under the present dispensation is poised to diligently address it.
